The LaSal Mountains contain the second highest peak in Utah. At the southern end of these mountains is the little town of LaSal (population: 300). LaSal is 25 miles from Moab and 30 miles from Monticello. San Juan School District has an elementary school in LaSal with about 18 students in grades K-4. Upper grade students attend school in Monticello.
